TerraOlivo 2010: Sindyanna wins the Prestige Gold Medal

The international olive-oil competition known as Terraolivo took place in Jerusalem from July 25 until July 28, 2010. An international team of 30 judges tasted 189 brands of high-quality extra virgin olive oil samples that were sent to the contest by 14 nations, including Italy, Spain, Argentina, Turkey, Greece, the USA and Uruguay. No less than 16 olive oils from Israel won the Prestige Gold Medal. Among them was Sindyanna's, the only Fair Trade olive oil at the competition![more]

Sindyanna of Galilee, in cooperation with the Workers Advice Center (WAC-Ma’an), has developed a program that gives Arab women employment, income, self-confidence and a sense of freedom. They learn to weave baskets according to the local traditions. The idea of promoting the art of basketry comes at a critical time, when the Arab women of Galilee desperately need secure jobs.
